Guest speakers

Dr. Susan Shaw, Chair of the Board of Directors, Health Quality Council & Dr. Dennis Kendel, Interim CEO, Health Quality Council

Session Description

Are some people at greater risk of illness? What makes residents of Saskatchewan sick? What can we do about it?

Join the Health Quality Council’s Board Chair, Dr. Susan Shaw, and Interim CEO, Dr. Dennis Kendel, as we explore the wide range of factors, other than health care, that influence health. We’ll spend some time talking about the “Social Determinants” of Health, as well as the fundamentals of upstream thinking.

We’ll highlight how other organizations have started to see early results in improved population health, as well as better cost efficacy, by modifying these factors through social policy, and inter-sectoral collaboration.  We’ll share with participants how HQC hopes to influence better health outcomes in the province, in collaboration with current and new partners.
